The drive into town crosses a huge flat plain along the edge of the Breakaways hills, bringing you to the Opal fields.  There are dirt mounds everywhere; it looks like some giant ants have been at work. 19/08/13 Great spot at Kings Canyon Resort overlooking the McDonnell ranges. Nice campground, heaps of amenities blocks and all clean. The four of us did the 6km Kings Canyon Rim Walk today.
