Daly Waters & Larrimah
Happy 8th Birthday Liam!!!!
Liam began his birthday with a wake-up birthday call from Grandma & Grandad, followed by presents. He loves his new pocket knife, his Willy Wonka book and his new Diary of a Wimpy Kid books.
He read all the way to Larrimah Pink Panther Pub, about 180kms south of Katherine. He missed seeing a few interesting things to see along the way, such as trucks carrying tanks and more termite mound people, but I don’t think he minded. 🙂
We’d heard about the free zoo at the Pink Panther Pub and thought it would be a good birthday stop. The zoo was surprisingly good.
A couple of crocs, some wallabies, snakes and lots of birds.
We loved the red tailed black cockatoo sleeping on his perch. We had photos and soft drinks at the Pub before heading onto Daly Waters.
We arrived at Daly Waters around lunch time and set up camp.
At Liam’s request we had birthday cake for lunch and an afternoon swim in the pool.
Birthday tea at the Daly Waters pub. Nuggets and chips for the kids and the famous Daly Waters Beef and Barra for the grown-ups. The waitress gave the kids an activity book each while they were waiting for dinner, which had them doing a treasure hunt all through the beer garden. They loved it and the free paddle pop at the end too.
Liam’s birthday ended on a high note with the whole pub singing him “Happy Birthday” and then the bush singer Col Kerley also gave him an autographed CD. We’ll have to play that at his 18th. 🙂 I think Liam was more excited about being allowed to stand on his seat than the singing.
