Cutta Cutta Caves

09/08/13 – 10/08/13

Back to Katherine today. Goodbye Kakadu – we’ll be back!  (We have a new bucket list item of flying over Kakadu in the wet. :))

Checked into Shady Lane caravan park which has lovely facilities and is convenient to town.  Have just realised that Katherine Gorge really needs to be seen by boat and since the cruises are all quite expensive we’re not really keen to do that. So we’ve decided to visit some of the lesser known attractions in the area.

Cutta Cutta CavesFirstly a morning trip to the Cutta Cutta caves. These are dry limestone caves about 30kms south of Katherine. We all loved it!!!

Followed the cave trip with a drive to Springvale Homestead.  Really interesting looking at the old buildings and reading about the area. Pity we didn’t know there was a caravan park there earlier or we would have stayed there instead of Shady Lane.

The giant Rain Trees were amazing!

More grocery shopping then a visit to Cameron’s new fav shop “Rod n Rifle”. 🙂 Kids loved the giant croc statue out the front and were both amazed that the shop actually sold rifles.
