Adventure day is finally here!!!!
We were a little later leaving than planned, but we waved “Goodbye” to Andes St at 5.30am and began our trip.

We stopped at Harrisville McDonalds (Toowoomba) for our tradditional “first day of trip” breakfast. Amy & Liam announced a few weeks ago that since we’ve stopped at Maccas for an early breakfast on our last two big trips it is now a traddition which must be continued.  I think they were just looking for any reason to get some junk food. 🙂

Stopped for fuel and a coffee in Chinchilla.  The roadside park had a nice gazebo and a “fabulous” water wheel donated by the local Rotary club. Amy was intrigued by it and took heaps of photos.Chinchilla Water Wheel

Made it to Roma for lunch. Nice park with a 400 year old Red Gum. I love all the bottle trees there!

Camped at Neil Turner Weir free camp. Nice spot on the water. It has a small playground, some picnic tables, bins and flushing toilets.  Would definitely stay there again.  It was pretty popular – I think there were about 30 vans/campers there, but the area is quite long so it didn’t feel too crowded.

It was cold at night so we tried out our half gas bottle fire pit. Fabulous!!!! It was sooo nice to have some heat.  Sitting in the cold is not really my thing.

The new car awning worked a treat.  Much easier than setting up the annex each time. Cameron’s strip LED lights attached to the awning are great. Talking about all our new things that we have this trip; I repacked the new pantry box before dinner. It’s amazing how much better things fit when we pack properly. I certainly am not going to miss juggling food crates around. 🙂
